The Chiemsee is one of the most popular holiday destinations south of Munich, with the lake and nearby mountains offering all kinds of activities and opportunities for relaxation.
The hotels below are listed in a clockwise direction around the Chiemsee starting from Prien am Chiemsee, the biggest resort, and finishing at Bernau am Chiemsee, the village on the German Alpine Road tourist route.
The hotels chosen are from the five-star to three-star categories and some of them have online booking facilities through our travel fulfilment partner Booking.com. You can check availability at those particular hotels by clicking on the button under the hotel.

Salzburg Airport is the closest and one of the most convenient airports for travel to the Chiemsee. The distances below are given for Prien am Chiemsee, the main resort on the lake:
Distance to Salzburg Airport: 60km
Distance to Munich Airport: 88km
Distance to Innsbruck Airport: 134km
Salzburg Airport is a little bit closer to much of the lake than Munich Airport - both have good public transport and motorway connections with Munich edging it on the wider range of destinations served by the airport.
Innsbruck is certainly an option but definitely a third choice.
The Chiemsee is served by three train stations, all on the main Munich to Salzburg line with trains run by the hourly Meridian services.
Prien and Bernau both have their own stations, while the eastern side of the lake is most accessible from Übersee, a town to the south of the lake.
